BMW has just revealed its 2025 BMW M5 hybrid.

True to the brand’s reputation for beauty and performance, this car is catching eyes, but mainly because of one specific reason: it’s an unexpected heavyweight.

This car weighs 5,390 pounds, which you might think is too much for a car, but not for a BMW.

New BMW M5 hybrid and its surprising weight

To put that into perspective, this car is heavier than most SUVs and similar to your average pick-up truck.

However, the size of the car doesn’t stop it from delivering an impressive performance.

It’s just like the bulky Cybertruck that even left a Porsche behind in a drag race.

The all-new BMW M5 hybrid packs a twin-turbocharged V-8 engine and hybrid technology, giving it an amazing 727 horsepower.

With such immense power, this car can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds.

Now, it’s notably slower compared to its predecessor and many sports cars like the Nissan GT-R, which can achieve the same sprint in just 2.7 seconds.

But then again, you need to put the car’s weight into consideration.

The reason behind the car’s massive weight and its benefits

Now, you may ask – what makes the car so heavy?

It’s because of its hybrid design, which includes a large battery pack and more electric parts.

As per BMW, the new design helps them meet the tough European emission rules.

Also, the added weight makes the car more stable, especially at those quick turns, and provides safety at higher speeds.

While most bulky cars and SUVs guzzle fuel, the hybrid system of the BMW M5 makes it more fuel efficient, making it pocket-friendly for the owner and less burden on the environment overall.

While other car companies aim to lighten their electric and hybrid models, BMW is challenging the norms, only to impress us with the luxurious and stunning M5.
