The car from ghost busters

We are always referring to cars we saw on the big screen growing up, so here’s a list of the top 20 coolest movie and TV cars out there:

1. Aston Marin DB10 – Spectre

We all know the Aston Martin DB5 as an iconic Bond car, but how can you dismiss the unmistakably stunning DB10 from Spectre.

It was a concept car that never made it to production, but its killer looks surprised all 007 fans.

You can stream Spectre here.

2. DeLorean DMC-12 – Back to the Future

It’s no secret that the car driven in the Back to the Future franchise is an icon.

First appearing on screen in 1985, the Delorean took the world by storm as an unusual and cool-looking car.

Unfortunately, in reality, you would be lucky to get up to 88 mph in one.

You can stream the Back to the Future movies here.

3. Dodge Charger – Dukes of Hazzard

American muscles cars don’t get more famous than this one.

The bright orange 1969 Dodge Charger from The Dukes of Hazzard is a car fanatic’s dream.

The only thing you can say when you see this is “Oh wow this is amaaaaaaazing!” – especially in that bright orange paint.

You can stream The Dukes of Hazzard here.

4. GMC Vandura van – The A Team

Let’s just say, we pity the fool who doesn’t know this one.

The iconic black 1983 GMC Vendura is a movie icon.

Let’s just thank Mr T for having a fear of flying and therefore having to drive this beast.

You can stream The A Team here.

5. Mini Cooper – The Italian Job

Ahhh the three musketeers!

We can’t read the title of this film without singing “this is the self-preservation society.”

The three capable Minis from this film are what make it so iconic as well as all that boot space to store gold!

They used far more than three cars in the making of the movie, this is probably due to them blowing the doors off!

You can stream The Italian Job here.

6. K.I.T.T – Knight Rider

Ahhh yes, the Pontiac Trans Am.

A true American TV icon.

Every child in the ’80s wanted KITT and you can’t lie.

It just wasn’t the same when it was swapped out for a Shelby Mustang in the later remake of the series.

You can stream Knight Rider here.

7. Toyota Supra – The Fast and the Furious

The iconic orange MK4 Supra is what we all remember Paul Walker for.

Well, that and Dom’s Charger.

The iconic race over the train tracks is one scene that will always stick with us.

You can stream The Fast and the Furious here.

8. Bullitt Mustang – Bullitt

You can’t have a list of the coolest movie cars without including Steve McQueen, it’s just not possible.

The dark green Bullitt Mustang is the pinnacle of cool in the car world, so much in fact that Ford has brought it back with a modern-day homage Mustang.

The scene between the Bullitt Mustang and the Dodge Charger is truly one of the best car chase scenes ever filmed.

You can stream Bullitt here.

9. Dodge Monaco Sedan – The Blues Brothers

Can I have four fried chickens and a coke?

The Dodge Monaco police car is the vehicle that leads one of the most epic and most expensive police chases in movie history.

The number of cars flying around is truly incredible.

You can stream The Blues Brothers here.

10. Cadillac Miller-Meteor (ECTO-1) – Ghostbusters

If there was something strange in your neighbourhood, these were the guys to call.

The white and red Cadillac Miller-Meteor is the car that was able to help get rid of these pesky ghosts.

Was it better than the Mystery Van from Scooby-Doo? Hmmm, that’s debatable.

You can stream Ghostbusters here.

11. Herbie – The Love Bug

We all know Herbie, the Beetle with a heart.

When we were little and watched this for the first time, we were blown away by a self-driving car…

Nowadays, it’s not so strange.

You can stream The Love Bug here.

12. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Herbie may be able to drive itself, but can it fly?

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was by far the most ingenious car to bless our screens.

Ian Fleming took inspiration for this movie car from a series of aero-engined racing cars built by Count Louis Zborowski in the 1920s.

You can stream Chitty Chitty Bang Bang here.

13. Peugeot 406 – Taxi

This Peugeot 406 has to be the best Peugeot ever on screen and probably one of the only… that we remember.

Not only did it look cool but it was wicked fast.

The chase scene with the two Mitsubishi EVOs is one of the best movie chases in history, with endless gear changes.

You can stream Taxi here.

14. Rolls-Royce 100EX – Johnny English Reborn

We all know Rowan Atkinson as Mr Bean but he also is very well known for his role as 007 spoof Johnny English – where he was seen driving the Rolls Royce 100EX.

It’s a concept car built especially for the film.

The movie car was powered by a hugely impressive 9.0-litre V16 engine which produced 770bhp – a huge upgrade from the ‘standard’ 6.75-litre V12.

You can stream Johnny English here.

15. Aston Martin DB5 – Goldfinger

Think of the most iconic James Bond car.

This is it.

It doesn’t get more James Bond than an Aston Martin DB5 – especially in that lovely silver colour.

You can stream Goldfinger here.

16. Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider – The Graduate

One of the smaller Hollywood heroes (apart from Tom Cruise) is the Alfa Romeo Spider seen in The Graduate.

This exact car sold a few years ago via Hemmings for $49,000 and had 75,000 miles on the clock.

You can stream The Graduate here.

17. Eleanor Mustang – Gone in 60 Seconds

There’s two famous Mustangs in this list. Steve McQueen’s from Bullitt, and this one.

Eleanor was the Moby Dick of Nicholas Cage’s character in Gone in 60 Seconds. So elusive, but he must catch it.

The movie car was fully loaded with lots of goodies. They did in fact use two for the film, one for beauty shots and one for the stunts which had many, many modifications.

You can stream Gone in 60 Seconds here.

18. Lotus Esprit – The Spy Who Loved Me

While Chitty Chitty Bang Bang could fly and float, this little white Lotus could become a submarine.

We will never forget the James Bond scene when it transforms into a submarine – it was so futuristic at the time.

You can stream The Spy Who Loved Me here.

19. Citroen XM and Audi A8 – Ronin

If it is car chases you love, then the chase in Ronin is one of the best.

Neither cars are particularly fast but this chase was legendary, with major stakes on the line for the main characters.

Plus it had the French vs German thrill.

You can stream Ronin here.

20. Ferrari 308 GTS – Magnum P.I.

A fun fact about this specific car: in order to make Magnum P.I. they had to use a Ferrari 308 GTS because apparently, Tom Selleck was too tall to fit in the coupe GTB.

How a cop could afford a Ferrari? We don’t really care because it made for a great car show.

You can stream Magnum PI here.
