If there’s a designer label on it, people will buy it.
That seems to be the rule of thumb, even when it comes to some of the most outlandishly-priced pieces like the Balenciaga face mask.
From socks to the world’s most expensive umbrella, these are some of the most expensive, unnecessary items available for the wealthiest of the wealthy.
5. Louis Vuitton’s ‘LV Archive’ sock set ($1,990)

This is a set of six pairs of socks by Louis Vuitton and each pair features a different design and color with floral and cartoon themes.
They look great and they come in a stylish presentation box. So far, so good.
The thing is, the box costs $1,990.
Yup, that’s more than $330 for each pair of socks.
4. Balenciaga x Mercedes-AMG face mask ($6,000)

This Balenciaga face mask / full face helmet was designed in partnership with Mercedes-AMG’s F1 Applied Science division (yes, it’s a thing) and it’s made from tinted polyurethane.
It’s weird, like it was designed by somebody who watched the 1979 film Alien too many times.
And the price tag? $6,000.
3. Billionaire Couture Umbrella ($50,000)

This umbrella was designed by Billionaire Couture, a fashion brand founded by former F1 mogul Flavio Briatore, and it is made of water-resistant crocodile skin.
It is known as the ‘most expensive umbrella in the world’ and for a good reason.
It costs $50,000.
2. Jacob & Co. face mask ($250,000)

Fun fact: this face mask actually won an award at the Watch & Jewellery of the Year Award show in Dubai in December 2020.
It is made out of 18k white gold and set with 3,040 round-cut diamonds for 73.27 carats.
As you can imagine, the combination of gold and diamonds makes this mask extremely heavy, tipping the scales at 155.9 grams.
And expensive, with a price tag of $250,000.

1. De Rigo Vision by Chopard ($408,000)

This ultra-rare and ultra-expensive pair of glasses was created by Chopard in partnership with De Rigo Vision, an Italian eyewear brand.
In essence, De Rigo designed the frame and the lenses and Chopard adorned the finished product with 60 grams of 19k gold between the hinges, the temples and the screws.
Chopard also added 51 full-cut River diamonds.
Amazing.
But you might want to sit down to hear the price because it’s $408,000.
