In 2017, Airbus showcased its modular flying car concept design at the Geneva Motor Show — but the vehicle was so advanced that not even sci-fi films could recreate something similar.

The concept was known as the PopUp System — designed by Italdesign and Airbus.

As a modular ground and air passenger concept vehicle system, it made full use of both ground and airspace.

Airbus PopUp flying car concept

The Airbus PopUp flying car concept was quite advanced for its time.

Looking at its design one can easily tell it will be a few years before it can ever be made into a reality.

Although we do have some flying cars that have been cleared for use in cities, none of them have even come close to this concept.

The concept car has an autonomous design and can be summoned by the user with a simple app.

It even uses artificial intelligence to assess information regarding a particular user, the available routes, and the best means of transport to ensure efficiency.

Although we won’t see anything like this in the near future, someone might make this concept a reality in the future.
