Several decades and movies later, the Aston Martin DB5 is still the most iconic 007 James Bond car

The Aston Martin DB5 is still the first and sometimes only car that springs to mind when people think about James Bond.

The DB5 has appeared in numerous 007 movies, but it never gets old.

DB5s in mint condition appear for sale relatively frequently, but every time it still feels like an occasion.

By their own admission, James Bond’s producers still have no idea who’s going to play 007 next.

The list of names that have been mentioned is quite long, and it includes Tom Hardy, Idris Elba and – more recently – Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

No one knows who’s going to play Bond, and we don’t know what 007 novel the next Bond movie will be based on.

But we do know two things: James Bond will be wearing an Omega, and he’ll be driving an Aston Martin.

Aston Martin DB5 in James Bond movies

The Aston Martin DB5 first appeared in the 1964 movie Goldfinger, starring Sean Connery as the world’s most famous spy.

Four DB5s were used for that movie, including two just for promotional purposes, but only one had all the cool 007 gadgets.

The same exact car was used in Thunderball one year later, and then other DB5 models were used in GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies.

The DB5 also featured in three out of five 007 movies with Daniel Craig as Bond, namely Skyfall, Spectre and No Time To Die.

This Aston is the ‘Skyfall one’

The DB5 you see here is in the exact same color as the one used in Skyfall, Silver Birch.

Remember the iconic shot with Judi Dench (M) and Daniel Craig with Scotland in the backdrop? That one.

The DB5 is powered by a six-cylinder 4.0-liter, putting out 282 horsepower.

This Aston has done 61,520 km (around 38,000 miles), which is not bad for a car that’s 59 years old.

It is located in Germany, and the auction ends on July 3rd.
