This YouTuber unboxed a cheap mini excavator from China, thinking it might not be very good due to the tiny size and the cheap price tag.
It’s not just the price of the mini excavator itself that you have to factor in – there are other costs as well.
The YouTuber’s mini excavator costs $2,625, far cheaper than a big standard digger, but is the smaller, cheaper version cutting corners regarding safety and usefulness?
The comment section of the YouTube video has some interesting comments, with people who were surprised by the YouTuber’s experience with the mini excavator from China.

A cheap mini excavator from China
YouTuber Mike Festiva is no stranger to smaller, cheaper versions of full-sized work vehicles like Japanese Kei trucks and Chinese excavators, and this Rippa R319N (1 Ton) mini excavator from China is no exception.
He unboxed his newest Ripper Mini Excavator which cost him $2,625 and was sold to him as good for greenhouses, landscaping, trenching, orchard digging, and indoor projects, mostly small DIY projects.
He was sold on this specific mini excavator due to the previous user experiences he saw in the reviews for it, they were overwhelmingly popular, highlighting durability and efficiency in real-life jobs that people have.
Mike’s experience with his mini excavator when it arrived showed that it was capable of digging up to six feet deep, perfect – he explains – for ‘running fiber and doing small trenching jobs.’

What commenters thought
There was an element of surprise in the comment section of Mike’s video about his mini excavator.
His review of the vehicle was so good that it caused one commenter to write: “Well would you still bought it [sic] I’m looking at the same unit now that I’ve seen your video.”
Another added: “Affordable, simple, and effective. I swear we used to be able to do that here.”
Although some people remained skeptical about the tiny digger and it’s safety: “If they were only wider and longer they wouldn’t tip so freaking easy,”
Another really didn’t like it, saying: “Don’t just don’t. This machines [sic] are damn scary and dangerous for any type of job other than level ground and digging in soft soil.”

Mike’s review never suggests the mini excavator shouldn’t be used for large construction jobs and as long as you don’t push it too far, it can be a very nifty little machine.
As Mike himself said in the video: “Overall, for the price, I’m really impressed. It’s not going to replace a full-size machine, but for small jobs and tight spaces, this thing is a game-changer.”
