This old Volkswagen Beetle defied the odds and survived the LA wildfires.
While the Beetle was parked outside his parents’ house in LA, its owner was 3,000 miles away in Boston.
Despite being on the other side of the country, he was able to save his car thanks to some quick thinking.
But he admits it was a close call.

Volkswagen Beetle saved from the LA wildfires by the owner
When the wildfire spread, the owner’s parents tried to keep the Beetle safe by parking it at the end of their driveway.
But according to ABC7, as the flames got closer, it became clear that the car wouldn’t survive there.
The owner quickly flew to Los Angeles to help, but there was one big problem – the car keys were lost in their burning house.
At a loss, he called a friend, Jeff Shein, an automotive engineer.
Over the phone, the friend guided him through breaking into the Beetle without causing any damage.
To move the car without starting it, he disabled the ignition and put it in neutral.
The classic car survived with minor damage
The Beetle, which hadn’t been started in years, was then carefully rolled down to a waiting tow truck.
Despite everything around it being destroyed, the Beetle made it out with only minor damage.
The owner’s love for his car played a big role in its survival.
That was also the case with a mystery car collector who saved his multimillion-dollar car collection from the fires.
His quick thinking ensured every last one of his cars, which included a Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, survived the fires without any damage.
While these quick-thinking owners worked hard to save their cars, others credited their cars with saving them.
This Tesla owner said his Tesla Model Y was the reason he was able to survive the disaster.
