We discovered a tiny museum in Nashville that holds all the original Dukes of Hazzard cars

Who doesn’t want to get behind the wheel of the General Lee? Well, this tiny museum in Nashville, Tennessee, is home to all of the iconic cars from the Dukes of Hazzard series, so that dream might just be within reach.

Cooter’s Place is a museum in Nashville’s iconic Opryland, surrounded by tons of country music history and the spirit of the American South.

Owned by Cooter himself, Ben Jones, who played the Duke boys’ sidekick Cooter, the museum is one-of-a-kind.

It’s home to memorabilia, props, costumes, pictures, and most importantly, all four of the most iconic cars from the series.

Who are the Dukes of Hazzard?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock since the 1970’s, most people know a little about the Dukes of Hazzard.

It was a 70’s TV show and subsequent 2005 movie set in Hazzard County, Georgia about what the whacky moonshine-running cousins Bo and Luke Duke get up to with their sister Daisy.

They drive their local Sherriff, Rosco, crazy with all their schemes.

The show and film are well known for their iconic cars, with the Duke Boys’ bright orange 1969 Dodge Charger, the ‘General Lee‘ being the focus of the show’s opening title card.

Daisy famously drives a 1980 Jeep CJ-7 Golden Eagle she lovingly named Dixie, while Sherriff Rosco drives various different cars, but the most important being a 1975 Dodge Monaco patrol car.

Seeing iconic cars in Nashville

When you step inside the small museum in Nashville, you don’t expect to see so much crammed into one place.

You can buy merchandise, view memorabilia and even get a photo opportunity inside one of the iconic Dukes of Hazzard cars. You can even buy yourself a plushie of your favorite car!

On display is Rosco’s patrol car, the Duke boy’s trusty sidekick, Cooter’s towing truck, the “Dixie” Jeep and, of course, the iconic bright orange 1969 Dodge Charger, the General Lee.

The museum is run by the actor who played the trusty Duke sidekick, Cooter himself, Mr. Ben Jones who was present when we visited.

Admission to the museum is free, but the opportunity to actually go inside the vehicles and take pictures is $10 each.
