Kia donates $500,000 to save more than 22,000 stray dogs

Kia America has donated a significant amount of cash to save stray dogs and cover adoption costs.

Thanks to Kia’s effort and contribution, The Petfinder Foundation charity was able to rescue 22,422 dogs.

Kia America first announced the initiative with an ad for this year’s Super Bowl starring a Kia EV6 and the company’s ‘Robo Dog’.

In the ad, the automaker announced a new partnership with The Petfinder Foundation, a charity company that operates the largest pet adoption website in North America.

Right after the ad, Kia America donated $500,000 to the project.

Kia America’s Vice President of Marketing Russel Wager said the company was dedicated to “giving back and helping more than 22,000 shelter animals find new homes”.

As part of the same initiative, Kia also minted a total of 20,000 NFTs based on the company’s Robo Dog.

The proceeds from the NFT sale went to the Petfinder Foundation as well, providing an additional $100,000 in donations.

And there’s more good news because every time one of these NFTs is resold in the secondary market, the charity project will receive another donation equivalent to 10 percent of the transaction.

About the KIA EV6

The KIA EV6 GT is powered by a dual motor, all-wheel-drive electric powertrain.

An electric motor powers the front wheels and an even larger one powers the rear ones.

It delivers 576 hp in total and, believe it or not, it is actually faster than a Porsche Taycan GTS thanks to its mind-blowing 0-60 time of just 3.4 seconds.

First launched in the spring of 2022, the EV6 is priced at $61,400.

And so that means it is also significantly cheaper than a Taycan GTS.
