Koenigsegg Regera steals 0-250-0 mph world record from Rimac Nevera

It might have held the 0-250-0 mph world record, but the Rimac Nevera could only keep it for a few weeks, as the Koenigsegg Regera clearly wanted it back.

Koenigsegg Regera sets new 0-250-0 mph world record

It’s neck and neck at the top of the hypercar charts.

Just a few weeks ago, the Rimac Nevera smashed 23 performance world records in a single day, including the 0-250-0 mph (0-400-0 km/h) record.

But its reign at the top didn’t last long – it’s been snatched back by the Koenigsegg Regera.

Clearly, Koenigsegg wasn’t happy with the fact the Regera had been knocked off the top spot.

So, they took to the Råda airfield in Sweden to give the hypercar another crack at the record.

Just for clarity, the Koenigsegg Regera held the record for four years.

Now, you’re probably wondering how it can be faster today than it was four years ago.

It’s pretty simple: new Cup2R tires from Michelin and a smoother track compared to previous record runs.

Apparently, the Cup2R tires provide better grip and traction, which allows the Regera to accelerate and brake harder.

The smoother track also reduces drag, which further improves the car’s performance.

The result was the Koenigsegg Regera once again setting a new world record for 0-250-0 mph.

It managed this ultimate test of acceleration, speed, and braking in an astonishing 29.60 seconds for mph and 28.81 seconds for km/h.

“This specific record is one that means a lot to Koenigsegg,” said boss Christian von Koenigsegg, “as it’s a record that covers every aspect of extreme performance.

“It’s something that makes me extremely proud and as the Jesko customer cars are being delivered, we can’t wait to show you what’s next.”

About the Koenigsegg Regera

The Koenigsegg Regera is a hybrid hypercar that was first unveiled in 2015.

It is powered by a 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and three electric motors, which combine to produce 1,500 horsepower and 1,470 lb-ft of torque.

What’s really special is the fact that the Regera can still cause an upset in the automotive world after all this time.

To be frank, it’s true testament to not only its timeless design, but to engineering and technology that was way ahead of its curve.
