It’s not every day that you see a 70s-era racing car in prime condition — but this limited edition 1978 Chevrolet Corvette is not only in a very great condition, it also has just 16 miles on the clock.

This car was also chosen as the pace car for the 1978 Indianapolis 500.

Over 6502 pace cars were made, one for each Chevrolet dealership.

However, this example is also one of the lowest-mile 1978 Corvette pace cars in existence.

This third-generation C3 Chevrolet Corvette sports car is a Limited Edition Indy Pace Car.

Chevrolet built a lot of units of this limited edition model as they wanted one to be on display at each of their dealerships.

Due to this, the 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Limited Edition Indy Pace Car made up some 15 percent of the total production of the C3 Corvette.

The Corvette also featured a front and rear spoiler that added a sporty look to the car.

However, it isn’t exactly a race car but it does have a nice 350 cubic-inch small-block V8, that produces 185 horsepower.

It is also quite nice to see such a legendary Corvette in nice condition even after so many years of its release.

Pristine condition

According to the owner, the limited edition Corvette pace car still has the original paint, tires, and window sticker.

He also has the original build sheet, inspection, registration receipt, warranty booklet, and glovebox pouch filled with manuals.

Even the exterior of the car is in original condition with no body damage at all.

The car likely received regular maintenance and care, which is very important to preserve a classic car.

Speaking of car preservation, just recently several low-milage Corvettes were found abandoned in a barn.

Thankfully, the owner of the limited edition pace car took better care of their vehicle.

Currently, It is stored in the Volo Museum in Illinois.
