Incredible video footage shows a Tesla Model S Plaid taking on a supercharged C7 Corvette ZR1 in a drag race.

The race took place at the ultra-modern four-lane zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina.

As you’ll see, the results speak for themselves.

Tesla’s flagship EV sedan has 1,020 horsepower, but the C7 Corvette is no slouch either.

Tesla Model S Plaid drag races a supercharged C7 Corvette ZR1

Captured by the Drag Racing and Car Stuff YouTube channel in 2022, the video shows the dominance of the Tesla Model S Plaid compared to the supercharged American muscle car.

Although the Corvette ZR1 is certainly no pushover, it was the EV car that ran out the clear winner.

It isn’t the first time that a Model S Plaid has gone up against other gas-powered supercars.

The EV car was also pitted against a Lamborghini Revuelto and a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT – with pretty stunning results.

Tesla cars are known for their instant torque and – unlike manual cars – they don’t have to rely on perfect shifts.

The video below also shows the EV car going against a Fox Body Ford Mustang.

EV vs ICE

By the time the Tesla Model S Plaid reached the finish line, the Mustang was nowhere near.

Considering the EV car has a quarter-mile record of 8.56 seconds at a speed of 162mph, it could’ve been even faster.

Moving on to the main attraction, we see a white-and-black C7 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with a 6.2-liter supercharged LT5 engine.

Although the car looks and sounds like something straight out of a dream, it cannot stand in front of the EV evolution.

With a 0-60mph time of under 2 seconds, the Tesla Model S Plaid took the lead in the drag race.

Even though the Corvette’s driver got away to a great start, it simply couldn’t catch up to the EV.

Then again, few cars could – that’s the amazing thing about the Plaid.
