Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate is final edition flagship

Electrification may be looming for Aston Martin, but it’s not quite ready to say goodbye to the V12 just yet.

The British automaker has just teased its latest supercar, the Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate.

Based on the existing DBS model, the DBS 770 Ultimate is a limited-run swansong.

It hasn’t been fully revealed yet, only previewed in a very short release and YouTube video, but there’s plenty to get excited about.

As you’ve probably guessed, the DBS 770 Ultimate’s name pertains to its power output, a pattern set out by the DBX 707.

The engine will be a more powerful derivative of the DBS’s 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12, offering 759bhp – an uplift of 44bhp.

An increase from the engine’s current 664 lb-ft of torque isn’t expected, though.

This is due to the limitations of the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission driving the rear axle.

With all that power, changes will be made to the chassis of the Aston Martin DBS Ultimate 770.

There will be revisions to the carbon fiber body of the supercar, too, in order to aid cooling and improve its aerodynamic performance.

The front end is likely to receive some tweaks much like the V12 Vantage did, although we don’t expect to see a fixed-rear wing.

Aston Martin has said that the DBS 770 Ultimate will be offered “strictly in limited numbers”.

To be precise, there will be only 499 examples produced, so getting hold of one might not be easy.

It also added that the special edition is “fine-tuned and primed with more punch than ever before,” which is something we like the sound of.

As a limited edition with an engine format that is growing more scarce by the day, the Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate is likely to cost a fair whack.

That’s assuming Aston Martin hasn’t already sold all of the planned 499 examples before revealing the car to the public.
