A piece of incredible footage from the cockpit of an Airbus A330 shows to expert pilots managing to make a smooth landing into a windy US airport.

The pair of pilots managed to touch down the plane with the minimum of fuss, making their descent into Philadelphia International Airport look easy.

That’s no mean feat, given that the description describes conditions that day as ‘gusty’.

Here’s the full video for you to take a look.

Landing an Airbus A330 safely

You don’t have to be a pilot to know that landing the plane safely is one of the most important parts of the job.

Whilst it’s not necessary to set it down like a gentle glide onto a feather bed, it definitely makes the experience better for the passengers, and – probably – makes them more likely to fly with you again.

So, during this 11-minute video we can see that the two pilots – one who is also YouTube creator Pilot PascalKlr – take their work very seriously.

The process of landing a commercial jet

The video begins at 9,000 feet and shows the two airmen getting into position for the runway, turning off the autopilot and auto-thrust, deploying the landing gear of the Airbus A330, and preparing to land.

Obviously, there’s a certain type of person that claps upon the landing of their flight, but you could forgive a few people for putting their hands together for this landing.

In tricky conditions – wind is probably the most difficult for pilots – they managed to get the job done, and made it look easy, too.

It’s easy to forget how highly skilled and intensely trained pilots are on commercial lines – they do things with gigantic passenger jets like the Airbus A330 that make them look like tiny single-seaters.

Whether that’s performing aerobatic stunts at air shows or simply gliding a humungous plane safely in to land, it’s still impressive.

Viewers were seriously impressed

That was the common sentiment in the comments of the YouTube video, anyway.

“True professional pilots,” one viewer commented.

“Pilots are amazing. Good work,” another wrote.

“You guys make this look effortless. Well done,” a third said.

These videos being shared far and wide are clearly making a difference, too.

“I am getting ready to take a flight for the first time and a little nervous, you guys made it look so smooth,” one commenter added.

Next time you’re on a plane and you touch down safely at your destination, remember the hard work, dedication, and skill that it took for that to happen.
