Military junkyard explored during a road trip
Driving his 1990 Chevrolet Suburban with just a few miles on the meter, his journey included some interesting landmarks.
One unique spot he visited was a set of dome-shaped buildings from the late 1980s, which were once meant for making circuit boards.
Among these buildings, there was a main office that was given a UFO-like structure.
David also shared how the Army Corps of Engineers used large Iron Cross markers in the 1960s for aerial mapping of remote places.
As he continued his journey, David came across an incredible collection of military vehicles in Casa Grande.
It was similar to the time when a few explorers got a chance to explore the hidden underground tunnels at an abandoned airbase.
From armored personnel carriers to decommissioned tanks, Humvees, vintage military trucks, and fighter aircraft remains – each abandoned vehicle had a story to share.
Other quirky landmarks visited
Casa Grande also hid a historic 1946 Ford Mercury dealership that looked like a ship.
The unique architecture of the dealership definitely added to the place’s charm.
As he headed to Tucson, a giant ‘Muffler Man’ statue welcomed him, and not far away was Magic Carpet Golf, a closed mini-golf spot still displaying some unique statues from the past.
From exploring military vehicles to discovering abandoned statues and other relics of the past, David’s journey was absolutely fun.
