The Airbus ACH175 helicopter pushed the boundaries of what a medium-twin helicopter could do.

Launched in 2014, the ACH175 was designed to meet the needs of the civilian population.

The $20 million helicopter is ideal for off-shore transportation, search and rescue missions, and VIP transport.

A closer look at the cabin of the ACH175

The ACH175 was jointly developed by Airbus Helicopters and Chinese AVIC (Aviation Industry Corporation).

What sets this helicopter apart is its attention to the rider’s experience.

Not only can the ACH175 perform well in trying circumstances, its interior can offer unrivaled comfort.

The cabin measures 17.3 feet in length and 8.1 feet in width, with a height of 5’4″.

In terms of size, it is still far from the world’s largest helicopter, but it still stands in the new ‘super medium’ seven metric tonnes class.

Up to 12 passengers can sit in the spacious cabin, with adjustable seats to allow for maximum comfort.

Seats come with armrests, reading lights, and vibration absorbing technology.

Relaxation is not the only thing on board.

There’s also an entertainment system to keep passengers occupied, offering flight data and multimedia entertainment.

For the sake of safety, the cabin has a satellite communications system and an emergency locator transmitter.

Filtered and conditioned air is circulated throughout the cabin, ensuring it remains at a consistent temperature, regardless of external factors.

If you want to go one step beyond and get an executive flight, you’ll be treated to a mini-bar, coffee machine and toilet.

Up front in the cockpit

It’s not just the passengers enjoying a spacious layout, as the pilot’s cockpit is very roomy too, offering both comfort and efficiency for the two most important people on board – the pilots.

There’s a ton of tech upfront, giving pilots the ability to monitor airspeed, altitude and engine performance on easily understood screens.

Speaking of the engine, the ACH175 is powered by two engines, each one being capable of 1,775hp.

This means the helicopter can reach a maximum rate of climb of 1,500 feet per minute.

The aircraft’s TBO – the time between overhauls – is an astonishing 4,000 hours.

To charter one of these helicopters would cost between $4,000 and $6,000 an hour.

Before additional options are considered, the ACH175’s selling price is around $17 million.

Helicopters are a pricey form of transport, evidently.

If you were thinking of landing your ACH175 into the Miami bay, a floating helipad would set you back around $250,000.
