When you think about the world’s cheapest supercar, the name ‘Maserati GranSport’ probably doesn’t come up.
Fast, sleek, powerful, refined. These are just some of the words Maserati brings to mind for car fans, but never cheap.
For every car lover, owning a supercar is a true dream, although the cost often makes it impossible.
However, that dream might not be so impossible anymore.

The Maserati GranSport might be the world’s cheapest supercar
When you’re looking for a supercar, you want heritage, you want power, and you want value for money.
Well, look no further than the Maserati GranSport.
The GranSport was unveiled by Maserati at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show.
It was released as a performance-focused version of the Maserati Coupe (also known as the 4200 GT).

Concerned about power? Don’t be. This stunning, sleek saloon has the same 4.2-litre V8 engine as the Ferrari F430.
The GranSport channels its power through a six-speed, CambioCorsa paddle-shifted gearbox (flappy paddle) derived from Formula 1, allowing for much faster and more efficient shifts.
All that amounts to 400BHP, a 0-60 time under five seconds, and a top speed of 180MPH. Not bad for a distant relative of Ferrari.
How much of a bargain is this GranSport?
Naturally, this all leads to the big question – how cheap can a Maserati supercar be?
Well, a lot cheaper than you might expect.
Upon its unveiling in 2004, this GranSport would have set you back just a tad over $98,000.
Today, a nice example of the 2004 model will cost you, on average, just $19,000.
And it gets better. On average, you can upgrade by two years to the 2006 model, and even that will only cost you around $22,000.
So, if you (or someone you know) happens to be on the hunt for a supercar on a budget, look no further than the Maserati GranSport – your wallet may very well thank you for it.
