Incredibly rare V12-powered Mercedes-Benz SL 73 AMG rescued after 17 years in a parking lot

This is the story of a very rare Mercedes-Benz SL 73 AMG.

The car has been rescued after being parked for 17 years in a single spot.

That’s quite a long time for this remarkable car to be left waiting.

This one-of-a-kind automobile was found and restored by Mechatronik, a popular brand dedicated to working on high-end Mercedes-Benz models.

What makes it special is that this Mercedes-Benz SL 73 AMG is from 1999.

That year is also important because DaimlerChrysler AG became the primary owner of AMG, turning it into Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

This makes the car one of the first after the big change.

Only 85 units of this car were ever made, making it an extremely rare collector’s item.

And with a V12 engine producing around 525 horsepower and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque, it was one of the most powerful roadsters of its era.

Now, back to the story, Wolfgang Lanzendörfer was the first owner of this car.

Just look at this striking red and black interior, personally chosen by the first owner.

The car was then sold at an auction in 2005, after which, it remained parked at one spot for around 17 years.

That’s when Mechatronik stepped in and decided to restore the car to its former glory, just like these guys transformed the private jet of Elvis Presley.

Everything was serviced, from the ignition coils to the engine and filters, with any necessary parts replaced.

This iconic Mercedes-Benz SL 73 AMG still has its original hardtop and all its documents, including the operating instructions and service booklet.

As of writing this story, the car is not currently for sale.

But when it is, it will certainly attract car collectors from around the world.
