Musk is delivering more promises than cars.

Elon Musk says Tesla could start deliveries for the long-awaited Tesla Cybertruck by mid-2023.

This is the most specific timeline Musk has provided for the electric pickup truck, previously saying it would be coming “hopefully next year”.

The Cybertruck was first announced all the way back in 2019, with Musk saying production would start in 2021.

That clearly didn’t happen.

In 2021, Tesla announced it would delay the project until 2022, before pushing it back again and again.

The multi-billionaire said he hoped production would start in the “middle of next year” during a Tesla earnings call yesterday.

¡MIRA ESTO!

Musk said production was to blame for the delays, saying “Tesla does not have a demand problem, we have a production problem”.

Tesla’s factory in China has been forced to shut down more than once since the beginning of the pandemic.

But the continuous shutdowns don’t appear to be the only thing pushing the release of the Cybertruck

When Tesla displayed its latest prototype for the truck, it copped a lot of flack online for its windshield wiper.

The wiper was tiny, barely covering the obscenely large windscreen of the truck.

It was an obvious knee-jerk reaction to feedback on Tesla’s previous prototype for the truck, which had a super-sized wiper that went all the way up to the top of the roof.

It got the meme treatment on social media, and Tesla went back to the drawing board.

The windscreen wiper wasn’t the only issue internet sleuths found with the car either.

People were quick to point out that the bare metal bodywork also had ripples in it, as you can see below.

And who could forget the botched armored glass, which turned out to be, erm, not so armored at the unveiling of the Tesla Cybertruck.

So it appears there are still a few issues Tesla needs to iron out before the Cybertruck actually hits the roads.

Musk said the truck would “be in production with Roadster and with Semi… so that’s all coming”.

Hopefully the wait for the Tesla Roadster and Semi won’t be as tedious.
