The Tesla Cybertruck is finally here after a four-year wait, but it may be too early to celebrate.
The first road-ready Cybertruck has rolled off the assembly line, and that’s good news.
However, Tesla’s constant delays generated a hefty backlog, and it’ll still take a very long time to fulfill the existing orders.

Tesla has apparently accepted over 1.9 million orders for the Cybertruck.
Provided everything goes to plan and production isn’t delayed again, it’ll still take about five years to deliver every single one of those trucks.
And this, bear in mind, only reflects data at the time of writing.
People will keep on ordering the truck in the coming weeks and months, presumably.
It should be noted that placing a pre-order for the Cybertruck is probably the easiest thing in the world.
All you had to do was go online, put down a refundable deposit of $100 and Bob’s your uncle.
Yep, that’s not a typo.
A simple one-hundred-dollar deposit was the only requirement for the order.
This means that a lot of people are probably going to cancel their order, while others may have only placed an order for fun and forgot all about it.
The reservation process brought in $194 million in total revenue, with the dual-motor variant accounting for nearly 50 percent (43.9 to be exact) of the cash flow.
Elon Musk says Tesla could deliver anywhere between 250,000 and 500,000 units per year, now that the assembly line is up and running.
Mind you, knowing Musk’s MO, we’d probably take that with a pinch of salt.
It should be noted that we still don’t know what the Cybertruck is going to cost.
When it was first announced, back in 2019, Musk said the Cybertruck would start at $39,900.
More recently, Tesla CEO said it would be a bit more expensive than that, but hasn’t actually given any price tag.
We’ll find out soon enough.
