Tesla introduced a game-changing solution to cope with heavy traffic areas of the US and it’s safe to say it was a hit with Tesla owners.

The EV-maker anticipated an increase in traffic across the US during the holiday season with more folks traveling around the country to see friends and family.

Of course, with an increase in time spent on the road, there would naturally be a knock-on effect when it came to its Superchargers.

So the company came up with a simple and effective solution.

The EV maker rolled out a solution to a seasonal problem

Tesla routinely makes updates and improvements to its range of vehicles, such as announcing the hotly-anticipated Apple Watch app or this helpful feature that lets you know if a nearby Supercharger is trailer-friendly

With an increase in travel during the holiday period, Tesla knew its Superchargers would be busier than usual.

To cope with demand, the carmaker launched four Megapack Chargers – offering a mobile Megapack unit along with pre-fabricated Supercharger units.

The mobile charger units were introduced in Bakersfield, California; Primm, Nevada; El Centro, California; and Cambridge, Ohio.

They were also included on Tesla’s Supercharger map.

The mobile units in Bakersfield and Primm were added to preexisting Superchargers, while the other two had been set up as standalone units with between eight and 10 stalls for Tesla owners to charge up.

The move was praised by Tesla drivers

The news was first reported by Teslarati and was welcomed by US-based Tesla owners.

“Not a single other major auto manufacturer is doing anything remotely close to this,” one happy EV owner said.

“Wow! No other car company will do that and this will benefit all EVs that can utilize the SC network,” another commented.

Someone who had made use of the Megapack Charger took to X to personally thank the company.

“Thank you for the MegapackChargers @Tesla,” they wrote.

“Really helped with our road trip from Colorado to New Jersey.”

The company has used similar mobile charger units in the past, having previously introduced them in Florida after Hurricane Milton.
