Airbus A380 turns so steep at Farnborough Airshow it looks like it’s about to fall

An aircraft making a steep turn can be an exhilarating thing to witness – but at an airshow, this Airbus A380 made it look like smooth sailing.

A video from the Farnborough Airshow showed the moment an A380 took a steep turn before transitioning into a slow pass.

As the plane passes through the air on its side, it almost looks like it’s about to fall to the ground, but it passes through gracefully.

The Airbus turn that left plane lovers in awe

Plane lovers were left impressed by the move, which was captured and shared to a YouTube channel called TheAeroLife.

One viewer commented: “Cool footage. The Airbus A380 is a beautiful bird.”

“Just shows what an incredibly responsive aircraft this is! An optical illusion makes it appear close to a stall,” another remarked.

This sentiment was echoed by another fan who said: “Just shows what this fantastic plane is capable of.”

It’s true, as well.

Despite being absolutely massive, the Airbus A380 – and most aircraft that size – are surprisingly nimble, as they frequently demonstrate.

These maneuvers aren’t for every flight though, and it’s best that we keep these for the airshows, rather than putting hundreds of passengers through them.

What is the Farnborough Airshow?

The A380’s impressive display took place at the Farnborough Airshow, which runs every two years in the UK town.

It’s on this week, as it happens.

It’s a big draw for business, with this year’s event generating $50.8 billion in deals in its first day alone.

The event is a prime chance for airlines to show off their new models and strike up deals.

Airbus is represented there, as well as Boeing, Korean Air, VietJet and a multitude of others from around the world.

Unfortunately for aviation enthusiasts, the weekend portion of the Airshow was dropped in 2019, meaning there would be less aircraft displays and interactive exhibits.

The display caught at the Airshow isn’t the first time a A380 has wowed onlookers.

In 2011 at the Paris Airshow Le Bourget, the aircraft demonstrated how nimble and smooth it was in the air, despite being such a big plane.
