Aston Martin is asking Valkyrie owners to please drive the hypercar the way it was intended to be driven.

The Aston Martin Valkyrie is worth an eye-watering $3 million, so it’s understandable owners might be tempted to lock them away in a protective glass box.

But the carmaker says that’s not what they were made for.

Aston Martin’s creative boss Marek Reichman said that “ultimately it’s up to the customer what they do” but “you want to hear and see them”.

“You want to look at Instagram feeds of Valkyries driving through tunnels. That’s why we make them. You want people to enjoy them,” he told TopGear.

With just 150 units of the Valkyrie coupe ever made, Reichman said he wanted less stored in home museums and more owners experiencing the 126-decibel noise in the cabin.

Reichman said Aston Martin did know of at least one owner who was having some fun.

He said one Valkyrie customer had already racked up 1,500km on his hypercar, and those were road miles too.

“It’s so good to see that. We want cars to be driven, that’s why we make them,” he said.

With a price tag of $3 million, the Valkyrie is a no-holds-barred hypercar that could be among the last of its kind.

It has the most powerfully naturally-aspirated engine ever fitted to a production car and is made completely out of carbon fiber.

Put simply, it’s the closest you’ll come to a Formula 1 car for the road.

Valkyrie power

Under the hood, which is behind the seats, lives a naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 developed in partnership with Cosworth.

The Valkyrie delivers 1,000 hp, which is a nice round figure, but the carmaker decided to give it an extra boost with the addition of a 155-hp electric motor.

In total, you get 1,155 horsepower, which gives the Valkyrie Aston Martin a 0-60 time of just 2.6 seconds.

The Aston Martin Valkyrie top speed is 220 mph / 354 km/h.
