We’ve clearly got far too much time on our hands here at Supercar Blondie HQ.
In all our wisdom, we recently thought it’d be a good idea to build a racetrack around a supercar.
Yes, that’s right, we got our hands on a Carrera racing track system, and set out to build the most epic track ever using a McLaren.
Here’s how we did it.

We started off by driving Alex Hirschi aka Supercar Blondie’s McLaren into the basement of the office.
Once in place, we got to work building the Carrera 132 ‘DTM Bull and Horse’ set, starting with suspending sheets of plyboard around the car using breeze blocks.
Never ones to shy away from a challenge, we even placed a piece of plywood (very carefully) through the car’s interior, to take the racing action to the next level.
Assembling the racing circuit was super quick and easy, but we had to use two sets to be able to loop the track inside and around the car.
We did this by slotting each piece of track together and locking them in place using clips underneath.
With the winding Carrera track weaving its way around (and through!) the McLaren, Nathan and Tuesday placed the DTM cars onto the track and grabbed their wireless controllers ready to compete.
We won’t spoil the surprise – you’ll have to watch the video to see who takes the crown.

And with Christmas just around the corner, you too could be enjoying a red-hot racetrack battle on the big day.
