A Mercedes-Benz ML 350 BlueTec found at an auction yard has sparked confusion after it was revealed to have a Tesla badge on its hood.
The unusual Mercedes was spotted at an auction yard in the US.
The blue-colored vehicle had a $5,500 price tag and 200,000 miles on the clock.
It also – somewhat bafflingly – had the word Tesla written across the hood.

The Mercedes-Benz was in pretty good shape
Buying a car from an auction yard can be a bit of a mixed bag – you may snag yourself a bargain such as this Tesla Model S that was listed as ‘dead’ but was salvaged by its new owner, or you might come across a BMW that’s a total biohazard like this guy did. See, what we mean about a mixed bag?
Over in the US, Alex from the Legit Street Cars YouTube channel headed out to one such auction yard, where he discovered a Mercedes-Benz ML 350 BlueTec.
The vehicle had a clean title and was on sale ‘run-and-drive’ meaning its 3.0 liter V6 turbodiesel engine was good to go and capable of producing 208 horsepower – although the ‘check engine light’ did pop up when Alex turned over the engine.
And, of course, the car has ended up at an auction yard so – as you’d expect – it’s got a few bumps, scrapes, and knocks.
But there’s no looking past the Tesla branding on the hood
As Alex gave it a once-over he noted a dent in the rear fender and a small scratch on its front bumper.
Inside showed similar signs of wear and tear, with the leather on the driver’s seat starting to peel away.
However, overall, the SUV was in pretty good shape and would look even better after a decent detailing job.
But then Alex happened to notice that splashed across the front of the hood, just below the Mercedes-Benz badge, was the word Tesla written in capitals.
“This is weird, it says Tesla here,” he noted as he checked out the car – and let’s be honest it’s hard to disagree.
It’s unclear why the previous owner decided to emblazon his Mercedes with the branding of another carmaker – but whatever the reason, it’s pretty odd, right?
