This is the Morgan AeroMax, an underrated icon from the 2000s that we sometimes forget about.

A sports car with a unique design language, the AeroMax is also rare, because Morgan only built 100 units.

The AeroMax was first unveiled in 2005, and this is a 2009 model.

Some of us are struggling to come to terms with this, but the reality is that when we talk about the 2000s, we’re talking about nearly a quarter of a century ago.

This means the AeroMax is already a classic in the romantic sense of the word but, crucially, it is also a classic in bureaucratic terms as well.

According to the HM Revenue & Customs, essentially the UK version of the American IRS, the AeroMax is a classic car, which means it qualifies for certain exemptions and benefits.

Time flies, doesn’t it?

A unique design language

Derived from the Morgan Aero 8, the AeroMax was unveiled at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show, and people immediately fell in love with its unique design.

Even though it’s a modern-day vehicle, some of its design elements, starting with the iconic boat tail at the back, are a tribute to icons from the past.

This particular model is finished in Gunmetal Metallic Grey, with matching wheels and a contrasting interior upholstered in Yarwood Red leather.

No expense has been spared.

The powerful ‘heart’ that powers the Morgan AeroMax

The Morgan AeroMax is powered by a BMW-sourced V8.

It’s old school, but very effective.

The naturally-aspirated 4.8-liter V8 has no turbos, and it delivers 368 horsepower to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic.

And because the car is so lightweight, tipping the scales at less than 1,200 kg, the AeroMax darts from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds.

Some modern supercars require twice the amount of horsepower to get to that result.

A rare unicorn

Morgan only built 100 AeroMax models in total, and this is number 36.

This is not exactly the sort of car that appears for sale every day, partly because it’s rare, and also because it’s a collector’s car.

People who own generally don’t want to sell it.

But this one is indeed for sale, available until July 17th from SBX Cars.
