Sony to stop selling the PS5 as we know it

There’s a new PlayStation in town, and it’ll replace both the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition, i.e., the one without the disc reader.

While some users welcomed the upgraded PlayStation with open arms, others are less excited.

More importantly, it marks the end of an era.

The new PS5 announcement was made pretty much overnight and no one was expecting it.

The new console is so much smaller and slimmer than the one it replaces that some people are already calling it the PS5 Slim.

The biggest difference is the new detachable disc drive and 1TB of internal storage.

Sony says the new PS5 model will be available in November 2023, with prices starting at $449.99 for the Digital Edition and $499.99 for the ‘regular’ one.

The ‘new’ PS5 is white, but Black, Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue and Sterling Silver will also be available soon.

Also, if you’re on a spending spree, you can opt for the $54.99 cover or the vertical stand.

This one doesn’t have a price tag yet.

Not everyone’s on board with the new PS5, though.

First and foremost, the new PS5 is actually a tad more expensive than the previous model.

Secondly, it is kind of making the ‘old’ PS5 look and feel outdated, even though we’re taking about a console that’s ‘only’ two years old in certain regions, including Europe.

Other users point out that 1TB is still not good enough.

“Cool, I can now store seven games instead of five now,” one user jokingly pointed out.

Still, be that as it may, this is inevitably the end of the PS5 as we know it.
