Skoda has unveiled a futuristic electric single-seater concept for the PlayStation racing game Gran Turismo.

According to the Czech automaker’s CEO Klaus Zellmer, the Skoda Vision Gran Turismo as it’s called has been designed to ‘attract new fans’ to the brand – and it’s easy to see why.

The totally unique four-wheel-drive digital racer gets a 268bhp electric motor on each wheel for a combined output of 1,072bhp and 752 lb-ft of torque.

Skoda claims that the supercar’s 4WD system and active aerodynamics will ensure ‘exceptional performance’ under all track conditions.

To be fair, Skoda isn’t the only brand making concepts for the racing game.

Lamborghini previously unveiled the Vision Gran Turismo, and we’ve even seen Gran Turismo and Bulgari come together in an unlikely collab to create a slick concept hypercar.

But back to the Skoda Vision Gran Turismo.

The digital racer draws its power from an 87kWh lithium-ion battery through a single-speed transmission.

That the vehicle only weighs a claimed 1,300kg (2,866 pounds) certainly helps improve driving dynamics and efficiency.

What’s more, the supercar even produces its own unique sound, which was created by Skoda’s development and design team.

It may not look like anything in the brand’s current model line-up, but the new concept actually draws inspiration from the Skoda 1100 OHC Spider racer of 1957.

It also incorporates characteristics from the marque‘s new ‘Modern Solid’ design language – first previewed by the Skoda Vision 7S concept – which will be used for its upcoming EVs.

The low-slung racer measures 4,407mm long, 1,947mm wide, and just 949mm tall.

It has an elongated body with sharp lines and defined edges, as well as a long aerodynamically honed hood (just like the 1100 OHC Spider), a narrow blanked-off front grille, T-shaped headlights, and active aero components.

On the inside, the cockpit is minimalistic, with a central driving position hosting a sports bucket seat.

The cockpit also features a carbon-fiber yoke-like steering wheel, designed in collaboration with expert Gran Turismo gamers, with a crystal stone that displays the car’s power meter directly above it.

The Skoda Vision Gran Turismo is already available to drive following developer Polyphony Digital’s latest Gran Turismo 7 update.
