This Jaguar went through a 2,500 supercharging upgrade, but just as the mechanics went to celebrate, disaster struck.
It’s every gearhead’s dream to get a powerful beast for cheap.
That’s why a lot of people build their own.
This Jaguar – for example – was bought for peanuts, but in a bid to push 600hp through it to rival a $60k Mustang, it couldn’t handle the punch.

YouTubers try to revive old Jaguar with 600hp supercharging kit
It is possible to build your own Jaguar supercar, even though the UK-built cars are widely known for comfort and luxury over speed.
Some restomods have even succeeded in making powerful animals with 660hp engines.
But this aged Jaguar was destined not to be dragged out of its twilight and become king of the jungle again.
YouTube team Top Dead Center set about adding $2,000 worth of supercharging equipment to this 140,000-mile Jaguar XFR.

Originally, the Jaguar seemed to like its belly tickles and purred into action.
The supercharging kit, albeit with a bit of push and pull, was fit quite easily. A little resistance to the pulley resulted in a quick swap, but it was soon up and running.
However, on its first outing, disaster struck.
The engine gave out after just minutes of rapid and powerful action.

After taking it to a mechanic, it was revealed that the chain had jumped, which could have caused more issues with the crankshaft, pistons, and valves.
“Oh god, that sounds horrendous,” they said.
The Jaguar was given a ‘less than zero’ percent chance of being in more content videos unless it was fit with a new V8 engine.
Unfortunately for the old Jag, it looks as though surgery is needed for it to be a part of the pride again, and it was hardly worth being brought out of its comfort zone.
Still, if some Jag owners can make old cars literally pur like its jungle cat namesake, maybe there is a chance a new engine can give it another shot at life.
