One of just 60 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport cars has failed to sell at auction for $4.4 million – a whopping $700,000 more than the car’s original base price.

Despite bidding reaching that much of a premium over its when-new value, the reserve failed to be met with the whopping bid.

The listing attracted 21 bids, seven of which came from the highest bidder.

Many of the listing’s 725 commenters were unsurprisingly shocked by the result.

“This car not selling was really unfortunate. Those were respectable and fair bids, the seller is just wasting people’s time,” Ducboy23 wrote.

Meanwhile, Altos described the result as “absurd, on many levels”.

When we first wrote about it a fortnight ago, bidding already sat at $3.65 million – just a smidge under its $3,699,000 price when new.

Listed on Bring a Trailer, the 2021 model has just 779 kilometers (491 miles) on the clock, making it near-new.

But this particular one is fitted with $172,500 in options, taking the original window sticker to $3,871,500.

These options include the Pur Sport interior package and a panoramic sunroof, both worth over $60,000.

Finished in the two-tone Lake Blue and Bugatti Light Blue Sport launch colours, this Chiron Pur Sport also comes wearing a vast amount of carbon fiber trim as well.

It also comes with a Beluga Black interior, using a combination of leather and Alcantara.

This example also came with the original owner’s box which includes spare keys, license plate mounting plaques, a car cover and the vehicle manual in a carbon fiber case.

Bring a Trailer confirmed the highest bidder’s contact details have been sent to the seller and “hopefully they can make a deal!”
