The new Bugatti Golden Era is a one-off Chiron Super Sport designed with the brand’s ‘Sur Mesure’ customization program.
There’s a lot to unpack here, starting with the crazy long ‘gestation’, which took so long we can only imagine how the owner must’ve felt the entire time.

The car was unveiled in 2023 but commissioned in… 2021.
Imagine that.
The owner, a long-time Bugatti collector whose identity was unsurprisingly not disclosed, had to wait two years for this car.
It’s easy to see why, though.
The customer had a very clear idea in mind and got in touch with Bugatt’s design director Achim Anscheidt to explain what he wanted.
“Our customer expressed that he believed the Chiron Super Sport and the W16 engine represented a landmark moment in the world of the automobile,” Anscheidt said. “He wanted to do something truly unique in celebration”.

The result is a car that celebrates the existence of Bugatti’s iconic W16 engine with decorations throughout the vehicle.
Every detail of the exterior and interior of the car is a tribute to it.
The livery incorporates 45 sketches of the brand’s icons, and each sketch was hand-drawn directly onto the car itself.
On the passenger side, you’ve got 26 hand-drawn sketches of icons such as the Type 41 Royale and the Type 57 SC Atlantic.
Meanwhile on the driver’s side, you’ll find 19 sketches of the EB110, the Chiron, the Veyron and, most important of all, a 3,712-piece representation of the W16 engine.

The car is painted using a bespoke shade of gold called ‘Doré’ and a metallic variant of Bugatti’s signature ‘Nocturne Black’.
All in all, the Golden Era took around 400 man-hours to complete.

The interior further celebrates the history of Bugatti with equally special two-tone upholstery in black and tan leather.
Six iconic Bugatti models, including of course the Chiron, are hand-drawn onto the door inserts.
To top it all off, the interior is also adorned with Golden Era stitching and one-of-one motifs.

The Bugatti Golden Era was unveiled to the public at this year’s Monterey Car Week in California.
It now lives with its owner in a top secret location.
