This classic 1959 Chevrolet Impala has turned up on Craigslist in Kansas City looking for a new owner who can restore it.
Chevrolet launched the Impala back in 1958 with an initial production that ran until 1985.
The nameplate was then revived from 1994 to 1996, and then again from 2000 to 2020.
As well as being an absolute design classic, it’s also one of the best-selling American-made cars in the US.

The 1959 Chevrolet Impala needs restoration
The Chevrolet Impala’s mammoth production run means that they can often turn up in cool barn finds, such as this super-low mileage 1968 example, or this 1959 one that was rescued from a huge haul of rotting vehicles.
Hailing from that very same year is this ‘as-is’ Impala that’s currently up for sale on Craigslist.
Details on the car are scant, but judging by the condition of its bodywork it appears to have spent a decent chunk of time outdoors.
Its paintwork has seen better days and there are rust spots spattered across the body.
However, looking on the bright side the Kansas-City-based seller notes that almost all of the original chrome is there and overall the body looks fairly solid.
The vintage vehicle is missing its engine
When rolling off production lines in 1959, Chevy Impalas came with either the standard 3.9 liter I6, a 4.6 liter V8, or the more powerful 5.7 liter W-series Turbo Thrust V8.
Sadly, this example has none of those, with the seller explaining that both the engine and transmission are long gone.
But this may not be an issue for an interested restoration expert as it leaves the path clear to drop in whichever you fancy.
The interior of the Impala isn’t looking too peachy – as the cabin is in a serious state of disrepair.
The steering wheel has gone, the rear seats will need to be replaced and the door panels have disappeared.
Even taking the faults into consideration, the seller is still hopeful he’ll get $24,000 for it – and we’re hopeful it ends up with someone who can give it the restoration it deserves.
