The $2,000 Chinese EV mini-truck is now down to $1,000

  • A cheap Chinese truck is now available on Alibaba for just $1,000
  • The truck originally cost an American YouTuber $2,000 in 2021
  • Sadly, the truck isn’t road-legal in the USA, giving it limited usability

A cheap Chinese electric pickup truck that cost just $2,000 in 2021 has now had its price slashed to an even lower $1,000.

American Micah Toll from the EbikeSchool.com channel on YouTube bought it three years ago.

It is a mini pickup that was simply too cheap to resist for the YouTuber. Despite its already low price, its makers have decided to lower that figure even further.

With it now costing just $1,000, this truck is even more compelling to purchase, even if pure curiosity is the only reason behind it.

How good is this budget Chinese pickup truck?

The original video of the Chinese EV shows Toll bought it in 2021.

It arrived at his home in a rather beaten-up cage and basic packaging.

The truck was bought from Alibaba and had a few interesting design cues, such as a front end similar to the Chevrolet Silverado.

The specifications, as you can imagine, were not very high-end.

The top speed of the pickup was only 25mph, and it had a single-motor setup located on the rear axle.

Toll didn’t know the truck’s range simply because he did not want to risk running out of charge nowhere near a charger.

The truck did have a 60V, 100Ah battery that in theory could give it a range of around 60 miles.

As the electric pickup isn’t road-legal in the United States, there was no way Toll could even attempt to risk finding out how far it could go.

The truck is now even more affordable.

As when Toll originally bought it, the unusual EV is currently listed for sale on Alibaba.

Delivery is handled by the Shandong Yano Import and Export Co. Ltd.

The lowest price is currently $1,122 for the EV.

The description of the vehicle is interesting, but it uses a lot of jargon to make it sound better than it actually is.

The listing says it is a ‘high performance’ truck with ‘long delivery capability’ and ‘durable and reliable construction.’

The YouTuber has said that, despite its basic nature, the vehicle has been useful as an ‘around the property’ EV.

It has lasted over three years so far, despite Toll subjecting it to many heavy loads.

Although this is a win-win, it’s best to be wary of cheap vehicles with basic construction and architecture.

However, that only makes us more curious as to how ‘cheap and cheerful’ it actually is, once things start going wrong…
