The Mazda RX-7 is a big deal in the car world.
Collectors and car fans absolutely adore it because it is rare, fast and… it breaks down a lot.

We know that sounds crazy but bear with us.
The RX-7 is powered by Mazda’s legendary / infamous rotary engine.
It makes the car smooth and fast, but also incredibly brittle.

Part of the reason why we love cars is we like to think they have a soul.
Well, few cars out there have more soul than a rotary-powered Mazda.
It’s like a puppy that makes a mess in the house all the time, but you still love it.
So what happened here?
The owner bought it brand new from the dealership and drove it for about 8,800 miles.
However, at some point in 1999, the owner simply parked it in the garage and left it there.
About the Mazda RX-7
The RX-7 is powered by a 275-hp rotary engine that can rev up to 10,000 rpm.
Back when it was new, this car was capable of reaching a top speed of almost 249km/h (155 mph).
And it only took about five seconds to get to 60 mph from standstill.
WD Detailing, the YT channel that discovered the Mazda RX-7, said this a “rare barn find”.
They decided to restore it and of course they had to start by washing the car.
Upon inspection, they discovered a plethora of dead mice and, curiously, ammunition inside the glovebox.
Fortunately, they also found a bunch of useful documents in the glove box.
This is good news because being able to provide extensive documentation increases the value of car.
Which brings us on to the big question: how much is it worth?
Mazda RX-7 price
The car is now in excellent condition – and crispy clean.
Back when it was new, an FD RX-7 came with an MSRP of around $31,000.
Similar models with a lot more miles under their belt often sell for $60,000 or $70,000.
Considering the car’s mileage and current condition, you can probably ask for $90,000 or maybe $100,000.
