These guys flew across the US to rescue a rare 1957 Chevy Bel Air.

The 1957 Chevy Bel Air ‘barn find’ had been abandoned long ago and was not in great condition.

But, it’s one of those cars that – if you give it enough love – can easily get back to its former glory.

The team behind the Robby Layton YouTube channel flew from Salt Lake City to Detroit and then from Detroit to Ohio to rescue this classic Chevy.

It’s a 1957 Chevy Bel Air, and even though there’s a lot of work to do, the car has the potential to become a gem.

This Chevy Bel Air requires a lot of work

The list of things that aren’t alright with this Chevy Bel Air is so long it would probably be easier to say what is actually working.

There’s rust everywhere, including the bodywork and chassis, and the interior is ruined.

The good news is everything is fixable, especially with a car like this one, because there are plenty of aftermarket components available.

And the best place to start is always a good wash, which can work wonders, as we’ve already seen with the Mazda RX-7 that looked brand new after its first wash in 23 years.

The story behind the Chevrolet Bel Air

The Chevy Bel Air was unveiled in 1950 and remained in production for over three decades and seven generations.

The first three generations are the ones that people remember fondly, especially the first one, because it epitomizes the iconic design of those years.

The only thing to bear in mind is collectors generally want this car to be in perfect condition and, crucially, in stock condition.

The owner and would-be seller of a spotless 1958 Chevy Bel Air is finding that out the hard way.

It’s been available for sale for a while, but no one seems to want it because it doesn’t have the original one.
