Corvette gives us a brand-new glimpse at its upcoming E-Ray

The Corvette E-Ray is quite possibly the worst kept secret.
You may recall it was accidentally leaked on an online configurator.
Well, Chevrolet has now officially confirmed the release date for the long-awaited hybrid Corvette.

Corvette shared a teaser video on its Facebook page, in which it revealed the release date.
The 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray will make its official debut on January 17, 2023.

The teaser video also shows brief glimpses of the E-Ray without its prototype camouflage.
The caption accompanying the video says, “After 70 years, we’re introducing one like none”.
This is a clear reference to the E-Ray being the first Corvette with a hybrid powertrain.
Judging by the teaser video, the Corvette E-Ray doesn’t differ all that much from its gas-only Stingray in terms of looks.
The most significant differences are different wheel options, more body-color accents and, of course, E-Ray badging.
While the teaser video gave us a glimpse of the engine, it’s virtually impossible to see what’s lurking beneath.
If the rumors are anything to go by, the Corvette E-Ray will use the same 6.2-liter LT2 V8 as the Stingray rather than the flat-plane LT6 used in the Z06.
However, it’ll have electric motors on the front axle and a total output of around 650hp.
The E-Ray will also be the first Corvette in history to have all-wheel drive.
This is likely to be sent out through the same eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Unfortunately, the teaser video didn’t give much away about what we can expect on the inside.
So, we’ll have to go off what we saw on the leaked configurator which, in all honesty, looks like most other Corvettes.
We did spot a few new buttons which are for the regenerative braking and the stop/start system, though.
The teaser video also gave us a preview of some of the Corvette E-Ray’s new drive modes.
These include a “Stealth” mode, which presumably lets the car run solely on electric power for short distances.
We don’t have to wait much longer for the big reveal, so keep your eyes peeled here for more information about the latest Corvette variant.
