This Florida YouTuber was taking his truck to an important race, but made a $15,000 engine mistake right before he was meant to compete.
He wanted to take his Summit Racing 632 Big Block truck to the Rocky Mountain Race Week in Utah, but he made a silly mistake.
Unfortunately, the YouTuber learned the hard way that he shouldn’t measure things ‘by ear’ when working on his vehicle.
His mistake ultimately resulted in internal damage to the engine and a less-than-ideal week away.

His $15,000 engine mistake
Car fanatic Lawrence Mitchell, more famously known on YouTube as Cleetus McFarland, spent ages preparing his truck for a very important race.
The truck, a Summit Racing 632 Big Block, was all set for the Rocky Mountain Race Week (RMRW) in Utah when he made an admittedly stupid mistake that cost him $15,000.
Cleetus thought that he could improve his truck’s 632 Big Block engine by manually advancing it.
This was a massive mistake because he didn’t use a timing light and he accidentally advanced the timing far too much.
The YouTuber was initially pleased because the engine did seem to run better than it did before.
The Florida man ruined the race for himself
After initially running well, the engine started to completely break down, causing a lot of internal damage.
It cost the YouTuber $15,000 to replace the engine right before the race and he had to pull out prematurely because the damage was too severe.
It was an unfortunate ending to the week long race for the Florida man and his Summit Racing 632 Big Block truck.
At least he learned an important lesson about using the right equipment when working on his vehicles.
And it just goes to show that even the most experienced and knowledgeable of us can make big mistakes while taking shortcuts.
