This ceramic watch costs the same as city car, and it’s made by Aston Martin

This is new Girard-Perregaux Laureato, made in partnership with Aston Martin.

It’s made entirely out of green ceramic and it’s not exactly what you’d call cheap.

In fact, you could buy a mid-size SUV for the same price.

As a tribute to Aston Martin’s official racing color, the new Laureato is finished in a striking shade of British Racing Green.

And because it’s made from ceramic, it is extremely light, tipping the scales at just 85 grams.

For reference, the equivalent stainless steel model weighs twice as much.

Powered by an automatic movement manufactured by Girard-Perregaux, the watch is available in two sizes: 38 mm and 42 mm.

Production is capped at 388 pieces for the 42mm version, and 188 pieces for the 38mm version.

Mind you, the retail price is the same.

Whichever model you pick, be ready to fork out $25,800.

Yep, we know what you’re thinking.

Doesn’t the Laureato look a lot like the AP Royal Oak?

This timepiece was originally launched in 1975, just three years after the Royal Oak, and it shares the same iconic traits.

The Laureato has an octagonal bezel, like the Royal Oak, and it even has a similar integrated bracelet.

Both are Swiss made but the Laureato, as crazy as it sounds, is a lot less expensive.

A brand-new Royal Oak in ceramic will set you back around $50,000.

And that’s assuming you can find one at retail which, in today’s crazy market, is a tall order.
