An American enthusiast has swapped the engine from a Honda S2000 for one from a Dodge Viper.

Shawn Davis of the AutotopiaLA YouTube channel welcomed his friend Rich to the show, who wanted to show off his V10-powered Honda Roadster.

In addition to swapping the engine, Rich also modified the sports car’s bodywork to enhance its appearance.

While doing this to an S2000 might seem sacrilege to some gearheads, it is hard to ignore Rich’s excellent job with this car.

Viper V10 power transforms the S2000

According to Rich, the S2000’s V10 engine came from a 2006 Dodge Viper.

The V10 produces a staggering 510HP and 535lb-ft of torque, a massive increase from the S2000’s standard power figures.

Despite increasing the car’s power, the engine itself has remained stock.

Rich resisted the temptation to add turbocharging or supercharging to it.

Perhaps more impressive, however, is what he did to the rest of the car.

After acquiring the S2000, sight unseen, the gearhead soon learned that the Roadster was in a bad state.

That meant gutting it was the best course of action.

He also ended up creating a custom widebody kit for the car to go with its new V10 powertrain.

Remarkably, Rich himself had no experience fabricating and painting, yet the results don’t show this.

The Honda now has a very imposing new front splitter, which starts off the massive changes.

The new bodywork has transformed Rich’s Honda

Most notable is the L88 hood scoop, which, to Rich’s credit, looks like it has always belonged on the Japanese sports car.

The changes don’t stop there, though.

New fenders at the front and rear showcase the car’s wider stance.

Looking at the back, we can see further changes.

The sports car now has a massive rear wing, something that the original S2000 didn’t have.

Below that, Rich added a quad-exhaust setup and a rear diffuser.

As with the hood scoop, thanks to how well they integrated into the car, they also look like they belong on the JDM classic.

Showing off how wild the build has become, Shawn gets to drive the car later in the video.

He was massively impressed by the S2000 and praised the stiff ride, which was far from harsh.

Modifying a Honda S2000 might not be to everyone’s tastes.

But this build shows what you can do with a V10 from a Dodge Viper and lots of imagination.
