This Italian-designed Mustang could have changed everything, but Ford passed on the opportunity to put it into production.

The concept car by legendary Italian Design House, Italdesign, was created as a potential real-life Ford Mustang, but for some reason, the American automaker was having none of it.

The orange beauty looks like a classic muscle car mixed with a European supercar – it comes with scissor doors and a full glass roof, not to mention a 500HP, V8 motor.

Despite all this, Ford didn’t want this rocket as part of its collection.

The Italian-designed Mustang had everything

There’s nothing like legendary Italian design house, Italdesign.

The brand has designed some incredible machines, and it’s recently shared a concept car it designed for American automaker and powerhouse, Ford.

The Italian designer created something called the Giugiaro Mustang, a ‘much more contemporary remake of Ford’s pony car.’

Inspired by the supercars of the 50’s and 60’s, the Mustang had iconic tail fins and was fashioned into an arrow shape.

The sleek orange supercar looks like if a European supercar married a classic Ford Mustang and had a baby.

With a 500HP V8 engine, it brings classic American muscle and power to a classy Italian design.

The Giugiaro has surprising scissor doors and a rear window created out of a single curved glass panel. It’s the epitome of style.

Ford never went ahead with it

For some reason, the American maker wasn’t interested in selling the Italdesign Giugiaro Mustang.

It seems like Ford missed a trick with this concept car, as the Italian design would have done well for fans of classic American muscle cars and those into sleek European supercars.

We’ll never know why the blue oval said no and we’ll have to mourn the Italian Mustang that never was.
