Luxury redefined: the Rolls-Royce Cullinan experience

Since its launch in 2018, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan has been the luxury carmaker’s ‘most requested model’.

Named after the Cullinan Diamond – the largest gem-quality rough diamond ever found, it’s the brand’s first all-wheel drive.

The luxury SUV has a starting price of $325,000, but ‘infinite’ customizable options can see the price soar to over $1 million.

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is ‘very different’

Rolls-Royce’s CEO, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, announced the Cullinan in 2015, aiming at ‘younger, more progressive customers’.

“It’s the most versatile, family-orientated luxury SUV and very different from anything you’ve ever experienced in a Rolls-Royce – it really is fantastic to drive,” he said

Powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre V12 engine, the Cullinan has 563 horsepower and a top speed of 250km/h (155mph). 

The Cullinan has a range of driving modes, including off-road, and a dynamic suspension system that can adjust the car’s height by 40mm. 

Its exterior leans heavily on the 8th-generation Phantom due to its fierce-looking front grille and headlights. 

Inside is exactly what you’d expect from a luxury vehicle with leather seats, polished wood appliances, and a glass partition between the luggage and passenger compartments.

The Series II recently went into production

Last month, the Cullinan Series II went into production – the first major overhaul for the vehicle. 

Sharing the first-look images of the Series II in May, Rolls-Royce declared it a ‘bold evolution of the world’s pre-eminent super-luxury SUV’.

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II is considered a mid-life refresh for what Rolls claims is its ‘most requested model’ within the marque’s product portfolio. 

While its V12 engine will remain unchanged from the original Cullinan, the outward appearance of the car has been given a face-lift – enhancing its stance and softening its proportions.

Lines on the bumper create a ‘V’ emulating the prow of a superyacht; while the grille is illuminated for the first time.

The updated model also boasts new interior materials, even more customization options, upgrades to its tech suite, and larger 23-inch wheels.

The family of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani own a whopping nine Cullinans between them, and his son Anant even opted for a bright orange Rolls-Royce Cullinan covered in golden mesh and hanging flowers as his wedding car for his recent nuptials. 

Billionaire, Reuben Singh  – aka the ‘British Bill Gates’ – purchased five Rolls-Royce Cullinan cars in one go

Streamer Adin Ross splashed out an estimated $450,000 on his Cullinan, which came in black with an orange interior.

But in an even more OTT display of wealth, YouTuber Houston Crosta bought a Cullinan for his five-year-old daughter after she ‘fell in love’ with the car.

There’s also a special edition Black Badge model

If the Cullinan Series II isn’t quite flash enough for you, Rolls-Royce launched the special edition Black Badge. 

Black Badge models are performance-orientated with a darker, more aggressive aesthetic.

The Black Badge Cullinan Series II has a 6.75-liter V12 engine which produces 591 horsepower and has a top speed of 250km/h (155mph). 

It travels on 23-inch wheels, with 10 interwoven spokes finished in gloss-black and silver.

The Spirit of Ecstasy, window surrounds and door handles are all black and heavily polished to match the glossy body paintwork with exhausts treated with a mirror-likee chrome electrolyte

And any customizations added to the coachline will be done by the same man who’s been painting Rolls-Royce’s for the past 20 years.
