What you’re feasting your eyes on here is the Maybach Exelero.

It’s a rare supercar some people may have never heard of.

And in this instance the word ‘rare’ just doesn’t cut it, because there’s only one in existence.

Believe it or not, it was loosely based on the Maybach 57 sedan and built on the same platform, and it was designed as a testbed for a new type of tyre.

Fulda, a tire manufacturer that’s part of the Goodyear family, wanted to build a special type of tire that could support really heavy and fast cars, and that’s why the Exelero was created.

And it fits the bill, because it is indeed very powerful, and very heavy.

The engine that powers it is a 5.9-liter twin-turbo V12 that puts out 700 horsepower.

It tips the scales at 5,860+ lbs (2,660 kg) and yet, it is still capable of reaching a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).

Apparently, it was purchased in 2005 for $8 million – and it’s worth a lot more than that today.

In the above video, Supercar Blondie’s Alex Hirschi traveled to Germany to drive it on a private airfield.
