This Bugatti Chiron has a paint job inspired by another absolute legend of the automotive world – the Type 55.

When it comes to Bugatti cars, they’re already one-of-a-kind.

The French automaker doesn’t do things by halves, and their prices – as well as the quality of the cars – reflect that.

All of this expertise comes from years and years of honing the craft, and has led to some incredible machines over the years, more recently the Veyron and the Chiron.

The Bugatti Chiron is soon set to take the final curtain as the production run ends, but it is certainly not done yet.

There’s still time for a couple of bespoke models, including this very special vehicle, to emerge.

It’s called the ’55 1 of 1’ and the first thing you’ll notice is that it has a very striking yellow and black paint job.

Like an angry hornet, but one that can travel at well above 250mph.

This Chiron SuperSport is inspired by one of the most revered cars in the entire Bugatti back catalog, the Type 55.

The Type 55 was first created back in 1932 and was the first of Bugatti’s SuperSport models.

So, there’s an unbroken historical link between that car and the Chiron of today.

It couldn’t be more different from this Veyron replica that has a seriously garish paint job.

It’s not even the real deal, anyway.

As we wait for the successor to the Chiron to be revealed – although we are starting to see bits and pieces – it’s worth cherishing the Chiron while it is still here, especially this particular out-of-this-world model.

The Type 55 was a legend of its day, featuring a 2.3-liter straight-eight engine that came straight out of one of their racing cars.

It was capable of speeds up to 112mph, which was absolutely incredible at the time.

The two-seater is a seriously good-looking car though, with the body designed by Jean Bugatti himself.

The owner of this Chiron wanted to honor that history, and didn’t want to stop at just the paint job, either.

Through the Bugatti Sur Mesure customization team, they tried to make the car visually resemble the Type 55 a bit more, adding some special ‘55’ patterns and 10-spoke wheels.

Inside, there’s more ‘55’ branding, as well as quilted leather seats, because you still want to be comfy, right?

Outside of these special historical flourishes, we’re dealing with a full Bugatti Chiron SuperSport here.

That means it bashes out 1,578 horsepower from an 8.0 liter W-16 engine, with a top speed of 273mph.

While we can’t be sure how much the owner paid for this unbelievable machine, this is definitely of the world’s most expensive vehicles, and it’s easy to see why.
