Man who’s created his own Knight Rider KITT car almost got arrested by the British police because of it.
It’s not because they’re not fans of the seminal four season TV show starring the Hoff, but more because he broke a little-known UK road law.
The YouTuber, in an interview with VINwiki described his love of the Knight Rider KITT car, and his sadness at selling the Pontiac Trans Am, but also his joy when his son started to love Knight Rider too.
In this interview, he also shared the story of why he got pulled over by the police, their plans to impound the car, and how he cleverly got out of it.

Who wouldn’t want a Knight Rider KITT car?
You’d be hard pressed to find a more famous car from TV or movies than the KITT car, David Hasselhoff’s trusty AI-assisted Pontiac Firebird Trans Am in the iconic 80s TV show Knight Rider.
In an interview with VINwiki, for their Car Stories series, popular British YouTuber Sam from Hard-Up Garage shared his love of the iconic celebrity Pontiac Trans Am, and how he’s passed his love of the Knight Rider KITT car to his son.
Sam was gifted a Pontiac Trans Am for his 16th birthday and was heartbroken when he eventually had to sell it.
When his son showed an interest in the series and the iconic car, Sam knew what to do.
He kept the dream alive by purchasing not one, but two Knight Rider KITT car Pontiac Trans Ams, one of which had a rare manual transmission.
The car was so cool it almost got impounded by the police
A friend helped Sam with finding yet another Knight Rider KITT car in Essex, England. They even managed to haggle it down to $3229
While restoring it, he found that the original Pontiac parts cost more than he paid for the entire vehicle.
Sam modified the car so it looked exactly like its screen counterpart, including the red flashing light.
The red flashing light was, ironically, what caused his run-in with the British Police. Flashing lights on cars are actually illegal in the UK.

That wasn’t the only problem, though. The car needed to be taxed, otherwise, driving it is illegal.
Desperate to present his son with the car, Sam managed to pay the charge over the phone. This seemed to genuinely shock the police officer, who still ended up slapping him with a $100 fine.
He later received another, almost $800, fine. But surprising his Knight Rider-loving son on his birthday with a KITT car was a priceless experience.
