The only car said to have been aboard the Titanic – a 1912 Renault Type CB Coupe de Ville – has been a source of mystery for more than a century.

The car was loaded on the ship by its owner, William Carter.

Sadly, among the hundreds of unsolved questions, the fate of this car is also sealed deep beneath the sea – probably somewhere among the huge wreckage of the largest ship of its time.

1912 Renault Type CB Coupe de Ville: The only car to board Titanic

The 912 Renault Type CB de Ville was not just any car, it was one of the most luxurious out there, just like the ship it was aboard.

When Titanic met its unfortunate fate on April 15, 1912, the car sank with it, and ever since then, no one knows what happened to it.

Well, we can have a guess, but nobody knows exactly where it is.

The car was stored in the ship’s cargo hold, but after the ship hit the bottom of the ocean, it became impossible to find or recover the car.

Some believe that the car might still be hidden deep under the shipwreck, while others think it was destroyed when it sank.

Recently, a mysterious shipwreck was discovered after a century, which brings attention back to stories like the Titanic and everything that was lost with it.

The car remains a mystery

While the Titanic’s remains have been explored quite a few times, no trace of the car has ever been reported.

That said, an extensive exploration of the ship has never been done, given the significant challenges of the exploration.

Finding a severely damaged old car might not be the top priority either, given everything else down there.

From expensive vials of perfume to jewelry, a bronze cherub, a violin, a gold pocket watch, and countless other treasures, many valuable items have been recovered over time.

But, the mystery of the car remains unsolved.

Today, we have much bigger and more luxurious ships, but in its time, Titanic was the epitome of luxury, and the Renault Type CB remains one of the most valuable things lost in the tragedy.
