The Sultan of Brunei owns the world’s biggest car collection, which includes a stupefying 600 Rolls-Royce cars.
Despite the size of the assembly, very few people will get to see it, unless they’re friends with the private Sultan.
Located on the island of Borneo, this haul contains many one-offs commissioned personally by the Sultan or his brother, Prince Jefri.

Inside the $5 billion collection of the Sultan
With an estimated 7,000 cars in his possession valued at over $5 billion, the Sultan isn’t lacking when it comes to rides.
If you doubt his dedication to cars, recall that he kept Rolls-Royce and Bentley going when their sales figures were in a slump.
Between the early and mid-1990s, around half of all Rolls-Royces and Bentleys sold went to the Sultan and his family.
It was during this period that the Sultan commissioned six Bentley Dominators.
This would be the company’s first SUV, and was a project shrouded in secrecy.
When a photographer leaked a picture of the car loaded onto a cargo plane, it became public knowledge.
Also among the cars specially made for the ruler was the 1996 Bentley Buccaneer, Bentley Camelot, Phoenix, Imperial, Rapier, Pegasus, Silverstone and Spectre.
Each name there was cooler than the last, I thought.
The Sultan and his family own an estimated 380 Bentleys.
Rolls-Royce fit for royalty
His Bentley collection is dwarfed in comparison to the Rolls-Royce haul, which is numbered at 600.
Counted among them are limousines such as the Rolls-Royce Royale, Majestic, and Cloudesque.
Again, we only know about these because of leaks – in this case, paparazzi and the occasional tourist.
The Silver Spur II, which was used on the Sultan’s wedding day, has been more commonly seen.
Though, it being called the ‘Silver Spur’ is a bit misleading, seeing as it was plated in 24-carat gold.
There are also some Ferraris in the mix, with the 456 GT Venice, F90 supercar and 1995 FX all being featured.
The 78-year-old monarch is evidently a fan of ordering multiples, with eleven F40s at his diposal.
Given that he lives in the world’s largest palace, with 1,788 rooms, housing all these cars will be no issue.
He was previously the richest man in the world, before Bill Gates knocked him off the top spot.
All that cash, and Bill Gates is still eating for free at McDonald’s.
It’s not too shabby being a sultan.
