We have seen endless avatars of the Tesla Cybertruck, but what about watching it go head-to-head with some performance track cars? Well, it did — and it was Tesla’s way of debuting the pickup in the UK by putting it up for demonstration at the enthusiast-appreciated 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

While it didn’t exactly compete with other cars, it certainly turned heads because who would expect a pickup truck going around the event’s hill climb circuit?

Tesla UK reportedly chose the pickup’s Dual Motor trim to participate in the event — obviously because of the performance numbers.

Tesla Cybertruck becomes the center of attention

The Goodwood Festival of Speed, among other things, is all about car enthusiasts.

You get to see iconic cars trying to conquer unusual tracks.

Although some of these participating cars look a lot like retired F1 models, some stood out.

For instance, a supercharged Ford minivan — no, not the supercharged Ford Coyote — was absolutely flying in the hill climb track.

However, these cars aimed to be there and beat the track.

The Tesla Cybertruck, on the other hand, was just there for enthusiasts to witness as part of a demonstration.

A regular demonstration meant the car was not being timed and was just there to complete the track.

Moreover, the Festival of Speed was a four-day-long event and the pickup truck performed two runs on the track each day.

What’s so special about Goodwood?

The event was certainly a great opportunity for Tesla to introduce the truck to a new market, as the event holds a lot of respect from car enthusiasts.

It’s not just about watching cars perform on the tracks but showcasing some of the best automotive creations.

Several automakers have chosen to hold special launches at the event where the audience can directly interact with the ‘vehicles.’

For example, Red Bull introduced their first-ever F1-inspired hypercar called the RB-17 at the same event.

Mercedes also unveiled its brand-new AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic on the first day of the festival.

After all, what’s a better place to show off your newest car if not in front of car enthusiasts?
