This 20-year-old Tesla Model 3 owner from Canada almost got out of the car when she saw how much a Supercharger charge would cost.

YouTuber Arpine Pog wanted to see how long it’d take to charge her car from zero percent to full battery.

After running her car down to the lowest point, she hooked it up to the Supercharger.

Suffice to say, the words ‘That’s actually crazy’ were said a lot during this video.

What did this Tesla Model 3 owner discover when she went to a Supercharger?

When it comes to making the switch from a gas car to an EV, a lot has to be taken into consideration.

Beyond the environmental impacts, drivers have to consider the financial ramifications.

Is getting a EV the cheaper option?

Many people have done breakdowns on this very subject, including a Canadian PhD student and a Tesla Model Y owner.

A study was even conducted to determine if EVs are more affordable than gas cars – turns out they are in all but two American states.

So Arpine Pog was just the latest person to do a direct comparison.

After she drove her Model 3 around to get it down to zero percent, she set it up to charge at the Supercharger.

Early on, the shock began setting in.

“At 15 percent charged, it’s already $6 [C$9], that’s actually crazy,” she said.

“Tesla might be cheaper than gas, but that’s a lot.

“If it costs more than $34.89 [C$50], that’s actually crazy.”

While the car was charging up, she couldn’t take her eyes off the screen.

If she weren’t charging up for the sake of the video, she admitted she would already be at home.

How much did it cost in the end?

Watching the price go up got so stressful that she considered leaving the car while it charged.

She persisted anyhow, and watched it rack up to the final tally.

It took just over a hour to reach 100 percent, and cost $38.34 [C$54.94] in total.

By way of comparison, her at-home charger cost way less.

“After doing solid calculations, it only cost me $9.77 [C$14] at home,

“So, just a tip – if you are thinking about getting a Tesla, make sure you have an at-home charger available,” she advised.
