This YouTuber bought a Tesla Model S Plaid that he described as the ‘cheapest one in the USA’ for $100k off and was shocked when he tested it against his Bugatti Veyron in a drag race.

The content creator managed to get the Tesla so cheap because it was used, and he described in detail how EVs depreciate quickly after being sold.

He used this comparison to not only test speed the cars against each other, but also to see whether EVs hold up in comparison to gas-guzzlers.

The bargain Tesla Model S Plaid really proved it’s worth against the multi-million dollar Bugatti Veyron hypercar.

The $100k discount bargain

Tyler Hoover, better known online as Hoovie’s Garage is known for making the financial mistakes so that his subscribers don’t have to.

However, with one purchase, he seems to have struck gold. Which shows that taking a risk on some vehicles might pay off in the long run.

His latest purchase, a used Tesla Model S Plaid cost him $47,000, when the EVs usually retail for around $140,000. So he made a saving of almost $100k.

Tyler explained that he got the Tesla so cheap because of how quickly EVs lose their value. In particular, electric vehicles like the Porsche Taycan depreciate a lot.

He generally approves of many improvements in the newer Model S Plaid, like removing the fake grille, better wheels, and the panoramic roof.

But he did take some shots at the yoke steering wheel, which is famously quite unpopular with Tesla drivers.

Surely a Tesla Model S Plaid is not faster than a Bugatti?

Tyler admits there are certain times when an EV is not the better option in comparison to a gas-guzzler, for example driving long distances on a road trip.

So he decided to pit his new Tesla Model S Plaid against his luxury supercar, a Bugatti Veyron, in a drag race instead.

The Tesla Model S Plaid really held it’s own against the Bugatti. This just shows that EV acceleration is comparable to that of multi-million dollar supercars.

It does boast a 0-60mph acceleration speed of just two seconds. Which is impressive not just for an EV, but any car in general.

Although in wet weather, the Bugatti Veyron did slightly inch ahead of the Tesla Model S Plaid. But it was extremely close, so it felt like the spiritual winner was the Tesla.
