The newest tech revolution that everyone thought would change the world was finally unveiled recently, and it was none other than a Tesla Optimus humanoid robot.

However, it wasn’t all diamonds and rosé because Optimus came with some caveats that made everything a tad bit hazy.

You see, the humanoid robots were supposed to be fully autonomous, but to everyone’s surprise, they weren’t.

Someone who attended the launch event asked an Optimus a question about it being autonomous and AI-powered, and the answers were rather interesting.

The futuristic Tesla Optimus can do a lot

Tesla Optimus became official at the company’s ‘We, Robot’ event with some fancy quirks.

The humanoid pulled off some party tricks, including serving drinks, odd dancing, and even playing rock-paper-scissors.

We only knew of the machine performing ‘useful tasks’ at Tesla’s factory before, so this certainly was targeted toward public appeal.

A tech enthusiast, Robert Scoble, was at the event, and he was particularly interested in the robot’s AI capabilities.

These party tricks seemed too good and human-like to be true for Scoble.

Hence, he asked the robot directly to confirm his suspicion.

“How much of you is AI,” he questioned.

Optimus was reluctant to reply and said that it couldn’t confirm any solid numbers.

It, however, revealed that it was ‘some’ AI, and not ‘none’ — upon being asked repeatedly.

Although that was enough to confirm his suspicion, Scoble found out more.

Not everything was autonomous

He reportedly learned that Optimus was, in fact, autonomous while walking.

But when it came to tedious tasks like pouring drinks and rapidly answering, there was human assistance involved.

Another video shared on X showed an attendee asking if Tesla Optimus was acting on its own or not.

The robot said, “Today, I am assisted by a human.”

This certainly raises questions, but there is one key takeaway from this situation.

You see, the official announcement only demonstrated what Tesla Optimus could do in the future.

It might not be there yet, but Elon Musk seems rather confident with his plan.

As for us, we’ll only have to wait and see how the humanoid robot fares.
